If it weren’t for performance challenges, success would be a lot easier to achieve. When you see anything you want, you go for it and get it. The problem is that in fact, there are usually barriers in your way that prohibit you from achieving your goals. And you’ll have to find a way to get there by going over, across, under, or through these barriers.
Don’t Always Say Yes.
Most individuals say yes much too often, and they say yes to things that aren’t precisely on track with their goals or priorities. Of course, it isn’t always obvious from the outside. However, with time and experience, you may begin to ask yourself, “Was it worth it?” about whatever you just did, where you went, who you talked to, and the meeting you attended.
Delegate Effectively.
Because you think you’ll have more time to work on it later, you haven’t “marked it as complete.” You’re not going to succeed. There may be ten percent of the 20, 40, or 100 items you’re managing right now about which you’re not going to do anything more. That’s great. Tell someone, and if necessary, delegate the “as-much-as-you-are-going-to-do” work to someone who is willing to do more.
Avoid Distractions.
While interacting with coworkers is a vital element of office culture, try to keep distractions to a minimum when you’re focused on completing a task. Protect your time by closing your door, posting a notice on your desk, or just letting others know you’re working on something. Also, unless it’s part of your profession, avoid frequently monitoring social networking sites.
Many people experience feeling overwhelmed and unproductive at work during the day; following these easy strategies can help you erase that sensation and get back on track to productivity.
